Host / Hostess Jobs in Montréal
The host controls the door, the book and the pace of the whole room. In Montréal it is a genuinely bilingual role — you are the first person every guest speaks to — and it is one of the few floor jobs where being organised matters more than being fast.

Frequently asked questions
Does a host need to be bilingual in Montréal?
More than almost any other floor role, yes. You greet everyone who walks in and answer the phone, so comfortable French plus functional English is close to a hard requirement in most Montréal rooms.
Do hosts get tips?
Usually a share of the pooled tips rather than direct tips from tables. The share is smaller than a server’s but it lifts the effective rate above base pay, and the amount depends on how the house structures its pool.
What makes a good host application?
Show that you are organised and calm with people. Reservation-system experience, retail or reception work and any customer-facing role all transfer directly. Explicitly state your French and English comfort level — managers screen for it first.
